Blog decicated to the 2010 California state Public Instruction candidates including Lydia Gutierrez, Leonard James Martin and Tom Torlakson; Your inside scoop to their lives, their platforms, and their endorsements
I would actually vote for someone outside of this blog. I would vote for Gloria Romero. She is a former teacher who came from a low income family with low education. She had a passionfor her education and was able to get a PHD. I think that her story is a bit more related to me and therefore I think that she has what it takes to be a good superintendent. Since she is a teacher, she knows what the education in california is like and she also knows what to fix. she is also the Chair of the Senate Education Committee which means that she has experience in government and connections with those that can help make a difference. I think she is the perfect candidate.

I would vote for neither of these canidates because not only I can't vote in general in this state for a while, but none of these candiates seem extremely or generally qualified for the postition. I mean if I had to choose out of these three canidates, I'd have to go for James Martin because he loves his state as much as I do, and generally those who have a passion for the institution they care about, they would do their best, and proably more than others, to get the job done because if he fails he doesnt fail the people, but the state in which he grew up in.

In this election fro superintendent of public instruction I would cast my vote on Tom Torlakson. Like myself Tom Torlakson is a democrat and he has similar values and beliefs that I have. He is a candidate that values education and is willing to do anything in order for younger generations to have a successful future, and be future leaders. I really like the fact that he wants to help our schools and make education more important and make it a priority more than it already is. For me education is very important and i believe that there should be a school reform in order to get more teachers, school supplies, and better technologies to make education more accessible for eveyrbody, specially minorites. Therefore I would vote For Tom Torlakson

If I could vote I would vote for Leonard Martin because he is very much close to the people both in his education background and with his policy with regards to everything. His education policy, compared with the other candidates, I feel is better and I support it more not only because he plans to help college students with their higher education and younger kids with K-12 education. I also feel closer to him because he attended community college and he was actually able to make something of himself and I am going to go to community college next year and also hope to be someone important someday.
ReplyDeleteI would vote for Tom Torlakson because he is really oriented with the education of children and safety. All of his plans will benefit me and my friends. He wants to protect the neighborhood and make them safer. He wants to protect schools also and give them all the technology to better the learning environment. All these policies will benefit students like myself.
ReplyDeleteI would vote for Lydia Guitierez just because of the fact that she is targeting more of the teenagers rather than the children. In the end, it is the teens that are aware of what they are doing and old enough to make their own decision. It is then that they should be educated into doing their best. Her policy almost reminds me of the way that Preuss works. It is almost as if she is expanding our system out to every school in California. I feel that the vocational training would also give the teenagers more experience for the future. Although we might all complain about the extra work, we all know that in the end it's worth it, and thats all that really matters.

I would vote Tom Torlakson. California’s State Superintendent of Public Instruction. I am a Democrat and there are two major Democratic Candidates. The non-partisan may not be politically affiliated but she has the support of Republican groups. I fear that may influence her decisions in office. I would prefer Tom over Leonard because Tom actually has experience in a classroom. This experience can be helpful for him in making decisions because he knows what schools and students need.

I would vote for Tom Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Although, the other democrats were also promising candidates, Tom Torlakson I felt had the most experience in working with education and had a great background to support his policies and beliefs. He feels strongly in reforming our education system and i totally agree with that and he has high hopes for California's education system. I support his positions on parent involvement and his want to impact younger generations through education.

I would vote for the candidate Tom Torlakson
ReplyDeleteSuperintendent of Public Instruction because he has experience in working with the school system as a teacher. I think that have this type of experience is important because he knows what is needed in our education systerm and I dont trust anyone who doesnt have any experience becuase I would expect nothing of them and I would be able to trust them for this job. With his experience he knows what people want and need for the education system and for the environment. I agree with bringing in technology to all public especially in this society where techonology is advancing all the time and has a consant use. This is why I would vote for him.

i feel that i would vote for tom toklasin. i feel that in comaprison to the other two candidates he is hte one that has the correct goals and has a mind set to what he wants to do if elected in office. i specifically connect and support most of his educational goals. he would do more for security in schools to motivate parents to take their children to public schools that are close to their neighborhood. i like tha the he wnats to ensure younger generations are up to speed with technology, having enough funding for learning and using a large amount of funding to modernize public schools. i especially like Torlakson plans to give better health care to the children, more fitness classes for public schools and granting better food to fit their healthy lifestyles cecasue i feel that todays generatiosn are overwight maing bc of the school they are in.

Walfred- I would vote for Tom Toklasin. in comparison to the other Candidate, Toklasin is the most experience and correct for the job. I shared the same view and educational goals with him. His goals for better technology in school, paren involment, better health care to the children, more fitness classes, and better lunch foods for more healthy lifestyles.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to vote for California's State Superintendent, I would vote for Tom Torlakson. I would vote for him because he promotes major emphasis of our education system and has the proper work experience to get the job done. He also intends to better our neighborhoods and make schools a better place. -Jerome Sanders
ReplyDeletei would vote for Tom Torlakson. in my opinion education is the biggest issue we have. and Tom Torlakson has alot of plans to reform it. alot of candidates say things but they never execute any of their plans. i believe in Tom Torlakson because he has the passion to make a change in our education and i believe we could trust him in office. for schools in certain area, it is very important to make them more safe. his plans for health care for children is something that i fully support. i think Tom Torlakson will put our education systems in the right direction. thats why i would vote for Tom Torlakson

I would vote for Tom Torlakson because he seems like a good candidate to be able to work and do a good job. What our state needs is to be able to do a good job in with education. Education is very important because it shapes what our children and future children will be. Education is one of the most important aspects that the United States can give to its citizens. It is difficult to do well without a good Superintention and that is what he plans to do. He has all the things that will have and make California a better place.
ReplyDeleteI would vote for Tom Torlakson because he appeals to all of my ideals. He supports an improved physical education system to help improve the health conditions of today's generation. He also supports the use of innovative technology within classroom walls to help expand the educational potential of the students. And he making a big attempt to make schools safer and intervene on gang violence so that children can pursue a high quality education without safety worries. He encompasses everything that is important to me.
ReplyDeleteI would personally vote for Tom Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction because I think that he has the experience since he has been in classrooms. He knows what the students and schools need. I believe education is the key to our future because it's what these young children learn and grow older with. If they start off with a properly given education, then chances of having a well paid job and being knowledgeable are at a high. Education is of importance to the citizens and by having him win this position, he will do a great job.
ReplyDeleteI would vote for Leonard Martin. It is true that the educaqtion system is poor at teaching children and because of this children aren't meedting standards. He also says that too much money is going to war and prisons, which i partially agree with, however, i think that crime does need to stop. So money going to program in the justice system would help.
ReplyDeleteMy vote would go to Candidate Martin because I agreed with how he wants to reform California schools. He wants to prevent teachers from getting fired and wants to improve the schools.
ReplyDeleteFor Superintendent I would vote for Tom Torlakson because even though I might seem more for Martin since he is the man of the peoplE I feel that Torlakson is more prepared for the job and has the experience. He knows what the students need and how to make it happen that is why he is my man. Since education is key to the future of kids and if the next generation are to have jobs it will increase the amount of revenue that we get from taxes. Give him the vote and he wont take it for granted.
ReplyDeleteEven though it will be a tough decision deciding between Tom Torlakson and Leonard Martin I would vote for Tom Torlakson as California's Superintendent. I know that Tom Torlakson is more experienced for the position than any other candidate. I believe that his experience with education makes him better prepared since he knows the needs inside of that feild. Also, he wants to protect the children at schools and make school a better place.

I would vote for Tom because it is evident that he has experience within the school system. His plans of reforming the school funding is a big reason for why I would vote for him because I'm on the verge of attenting college and having more funds would only make my life easier. To sum it up Tom not only has the right ideals but he has the experience to be the superintendent.
